Well, what do we have here? Looks like a Logitech beta user was kind enough to (potentially break his NDA and) show off his early grab: the Google TV-infused Revue. What follows is a series of blurred photos that'd make the FCC weep, but all the same, who are we to critique news? The little unassuming box has HDMI in and out ports, a couple of USB inputs, ethernet, and SPDIF. According to the handler, installation was a "12-step process includes asking the details of your Google account, your physical location, TV, cable box, amp, and more." It works with any Harmony remote, an Android device (in this case, a Droid Incredible), or the packaged keyboard.

This week, we inadvertently stumbled across a pretty neat, cross-platform, geo-location mobile app titled echoecho. The premise behind echoecho is simple: instead of using a service like Facebook or foursquare to broadcast where you are, it offers a way of requesting the location of a single friend. The application integrates with your phone’s address book and sends a message to friends asking: “Where are you?” If your echo’ed friend chooses to reply, you are given their location and can then view that location — complete with the distance between the two of you — on a map . It is definitely an interesting, more personal twist on geo-location. We can see the service being useful in crowded bars, clubs, and the work place; amongst other locations/situations. Echoecho is available for Android, BlackBerry, iOS, Symbian, and Windows Mobile. That "leaked" low-end LG Android device from a few days back? Turns out it was nothing more than the Optimus Chic, one of two Google-powered phones that the company announced back in early July. They're still not ready to let us touch the damned things here at IFA -- apparently on account of the fact that they're not commercially available yet -- but we got close enough to conclude that you definitely won't be fooling anyone into thinking that you've dropped many hundreds of euros on your phone. You could argue that Huawei set the tone for IFA's small-but-notable mobile presence this year with its introduction of the Ideos -- in other words, cheap Android gear -- and both of these LGs look primed to go head-to-head with the Ideos in that arena.

Researchers at Cambridge University have recently published a paper on their new type of WORM (write once read many) memory which is even more low powered than the ones that came before it. The new electron-only design of the memory is solution processed, making it low cost as well as it requires no lithography. The device, using ZnO semiconductor nanoparticles to inject electrons into a polymer which is capable of conducting. The electrons are then used to program the memory by permanently lowering the conductivity of the polymer, producing insulation. This result is far lower power densities than previously recorded, by orders of magnitude.

T-Mobile USA in in negotiations to carry Huawei's new Ideos handset -- an entry-level Android handset that will ship with Android 2.2, so says the Wall Street Journal. WSJ's unnamed source, however, says that it's unsure if the deal will go through, and to expect the answer in four to six weeks.

Huawei is better know for its telco equipment (that's the stuff your carrier buys for its towers and data centers), and a push to get into the U.S. smartphone market is somewhat new.  Any manufacturer who can ship a solidly built messaging phone replacement, that also runs the latest and greatest version of Android is OK in my book.  Bring it!  We're trying to track one down at IFA, in the meantime hit the jump to see Huawei's promo video for the Ideos.
